Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Some of her early Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. For her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across theatre and on television. she continues that award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently in the making of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. As it is a Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney DTC's platforms. Ashford is set to return in 2023 and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford's most recent role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. She also appeared in the cult series, created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Other Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
