Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in France's Puy-de-Domme on the 9th of August, 1976. She was the youngest child of four. Her parents, who are a dental doctor as well as a teacher at school helped and encouraged her early love for drama and theatre. Her initial dream to become a master monkey was replaced by a desire to study theater and drama. She rose to prominence as an actress in her early years and with great achievement. Following her graduation, she participated in the French talent-spotting TV show Jeunes Premiers which was sponsored by Canal+. She won the Best Young Actress award at Beziers Festival of Young Actors in the year 2000. She then began a career as an actress. Tautou was raised in the context of a Catholic family and attended church, even though she went to school within the Institut Catholique de Paris. Alongside her acting career, Tautou took up modeling and was the face for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. In the past, during the Arles Arts Festival she exhibited the collection of her photographs with the title Superficial. Her photographs are largely about famous people and celebrities. They also feature an assortment of portraits of herself as well. Audrey Tautou became a star and gained international recognition with her debut role as Amelie Poulain in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain. Amelie was an international box-office film that received acclaim at awards galas around the world. Amelie has been the most financially successful french-language film to hit the US. The success of this movie brought Tautou into a wide range of roles, ranging from British dramas like Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
